Vancouver Whitecaps to Play in 2023 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League

Semifinalist in the 2016-2017 season, this is Vancouver’s third appearance in the highly coveted Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League.

High-flying Canadian soccer side Vancouver Whitecaps FC is the only Canadian soccer club set to take part in the 2023 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League (SCCL). According to a media release from CONCACAF, the soccer governing body for federations from North and Central America and the Caribbean, Vancouver joins teams from Costa Rica, El Salvador, Haiti, and Honduras. The other clubs are from Mexico, Panama, and the United States of America. 

Vancouver Whitecaps is the winner of the 2022 Canadian Soccer Championship. The team from western Canada achieved this feat after overwhelming Toronto FC by 5-3 in penalty shots in the aftermath of regular time score standing at one goal apiece. Vancouver joins 15 other elite clubs for CONCACAF’s most prestigious competition.
