Winnipeg Mothers Honoured With Over 10,000 Roses This Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is a time to recognize the mothers who shaped us, guided us, sacrificed for us, and whose love continues to stay with us long after moments have passed.

This year, more than 10,000 roses are being shared with moms and mothers across Winnipeg in honour of my late mother, Dothlyn Woodstock, who passed not too long ago. She loved flowers, especially roses, and that memory has remained close to my heart ever since. What began as a personal tribute has grown into something much larger, reaching mothers throughout churches, seniors homes, neighbourhoods, and communities across the city.

Through my business, JamRock Security, we have been blessed with the opportunity to give back to the community over the years. Donating more than 10,000 roses throughout churches, seniors homes, and communities across Winnipeg is a reflection of the appreciation and respect we have for mothers, grandmothers, caregivers, and the women who continue to hold families and communities together through love, strength, and sacrifice.

Losing my mother was one of the most difficult experiences of my life. There were moments where the grief felt overwhelming and the silence left behind was hard to describe. During that time, it was the support of family, friends, churches, and people throughout the community that helped me find strength and perspective. Those moments reminded me how important compassion, kindness, and community truly are, especially during life’s hardest chapters.

My faith and traditional values have always played a major role in my life, and I believe deeply in giving back whenever possible. Churches, seniors homes, and community organizations are often the foundation people lean on during difficult times, and that is part of why this initiative means so much to me personally.

Each rose being handed out today is a reminder that every person comes from a mother, and that mothers deserve to feel appreciated, valued, and remembered. If these roses can bring even a small smile to someone’s face or remind a mother that she is loved and appreciated, then in some small way, that love continues on.

Happy Mother’s Day Winnipeg.
