Trump Pleads The Fifth After Saying Its Something The Mob Does

Wednesday, Trump admitted his hypocrisy when he pleaded to the fifth amendment.

The fifth amendment is granted to all US citizens, protecting them from being “compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself.” It is set in place to help witnesses from making a statement that can negatively affect them. It is often referred to as the ‘self-incriminating clause.”

In New York, on Wednesday, the 11th of August, Trump admitted that he pleaded the fifth in a civil investigation against him. The New York State attorney general’s office is investigating Trump and fraudulent taxes from his company.

Trump sat for attorney general Letitia James for the deposition about his business and refused to answer any questions.

After the session, Trump made a statement acknowledging that he had changed his mind about the fifth amendment. Donald Trump said, “I once asked, ‘If you’re innocent, why are you taking the fifth?’ Now I know the answer to that question. When your family, your company, and all the people in your orbit have become the targets of an unfounded, politically motivated Witch Hunt, supported by lawyers, prosecutors, and The Fake News Media, you have no choice.”

The irony of the situation was explored on social media. A Twitter post from 2016 was found with Trump saying, “You see, the mob takes the fifth,” when talking about an investigation of Democrats relating to Hillary Clinton.

On many occasions, Trump has brought up the self-incriminating label of pleading the fifth place on a person and now has put it on himself.

This statement surrounding the civil investigation marked the third optical Trump has run into recently. Earlier this summer, the January 6th Committee has been making inquiries and further searching for evidence about trumps role in the attack on the Capital. On Monday, the FBI raided Trump’s home in Florida, looking for missing files supposedly taken from the White House.

It seems Trump’s actions and words have been catching up to him. It was made clear yesterday how he even took for granted and disregarded a constitutional right he ended up using.
