NBA SEASON CANCELLED, All-Star Test Positive For Coronavirus

NBA all-star centre Rudy Gobert from the Utah Jazz has preliminarily tested positive for COVID-19.  The test result was reported shortly prior to the tip-off of Wednesday’s game between the Jazz and Oklahoma City Thunder at Chesapeake Energy Arena.  At that time, Wednesday’s game was cancelled.  The affected player was not in the arena.
 
The NBA is suspending game play following the conclusion of Wednesday’s schedule of games until further notice.  The NBA will use this hiatus to determine the next steps for moving forward in regard to the coronavirus pandemic. 

As of now, the NBA has suspended the remainder of the 2019-20 basketball season. Two days ago the World Health Organization has declared the Coronavirus a world pandemic with no known cure.

The virus has now infected over 110,000 people and killed close to 5,000 worldwide. In Italy, alone the virus has infected over 1,000 people in a single day and killed almost 300.

The Utah Jazz and the NBA has not released any further updates as to the condition of the all-star nor have the confirmed if any other players have been infected with the Covid-19 virus.
