After a notable seven-year absence, the Chile Pavilion made a triumphant return to Winnipeg, orchestrated by the Winnipeg Chilean association, and at the heart of this joyous comeback was Marcela Munoz. As the pavilion coordinator and a staple of the community for decades, as well as the president of the association, Marcela greeted the momentous occasion with profound emotion and immense pride. Standing before the eager crowd, she welcomed everyone back with a warmth that set the tone for the entire cultural celebration, getting emotional at times as she spoke from the heart about her deep pride for the community, both her fellow Chileans and the broader city of Winnipeg that had embraced them so fiercely.

Marcela admitted to feeling those familiar pre-show jitters that come with such a massive undertaking. After being away for seven years, you naturally have deep confidence in the community and remain deeply optimistic that the shows will sell out, but stepping back into the spotlight after so long naturally brings a healthy dose of nervous anticipation. True to form, however, the Winnipeg community came out in droves to support the Pavilion, filling every available seat for completely sold-out shows that instantly validated all of Marcela’s hard work and optimistic hope.

She continually praised the tireless efforts of the older members alongside the incredible energy of the youth, emphasizing how the next generation is up and coming, vibrant, and completely ready to carry the torch forward. This passing of the torch was visible in every corner of the venue, where teenagers and young adults worked side by side with seasoned veterans of the festival, ensuring that every detail ran smoothly and every guest felt welcomed like family.
