“We have prepared well against Lyon.”

Tuesday’s UEFA Women’s Champions League quarterfinal first leg contest between Germany’s Wolfsburg and France’s OL Lyonnes promises exciting football as both teams prepare to do battle for the third time in this football season in what is essentially a clash between old adversaries.

Speaking during Monday’s virtual media conference, Wolfsburg’s Janou Levels recognized Lyon as “a great opponent to play against.” The defender displayed a keen awareness of Lyon’s intimidating pedigree in the UWCL while also emphasizing that her team is adequately prepared for battle.

“We have prepared well against Lyon,” the Dutch international defender further stated, adding that playing against Lyon “won’t be boring,” despite their previous encounters.

Janou Levels is aware that the game against Lyon, who have won the competition a record eight times, won’t be a walk in the park. The Wolfsburg left-back acknowledged that her team must be completely focused on the game in order to achieve victory. “Communication will be important for us against Lyon,” Levels remarked. However, teamwork and aggression will be key against a highly tactical opponent with an admirable history in the UWCL, the Wolfsburg defensive queen pointed out.

“They have many great players,” Levels said while identifying Lyon’s strength as a team. Nonetheless, Levels insisted that her side will be “confident with the ball.”

The Vfl Wolfsburg vs OL Lyonnes game is a clash with a compelling background as OL Lyonnes beat Wolfsburg 3-1 on Matchday 3 when both teams met for the eleventh time in Europe’s premier women’s club competition.

In other quarterfinal games, defending champions Arsenal and Chelsea will lock horns in an all-England clash. Manchester United will take on Bayern Munchen, while Real Madrid will be home to Barcelona in what promises to be a classic Spanish duel.
