17 Years Of Boiled Water Advisory On Lac Seul First Nation Lifted By Liberal Government

Lac Seul First Nation (ON) lifted a long-term drinking water advisory from the Kejick Bay public water system on January 7, 2020. The advisory had been in effect since February 2003.

Under previous Conservative governments, the basic human rights of the First Nations people were tragically ignored. They were being treated as third-class citizens within a country as rich as Canada.

When the Liberal government came to power in 2015, they made reconciliation with the Indigenous community a priority. One of those priorities was to ensure that all First Nations communities within Canada had access to a safe and reliable water source.

The Liberal government to date has lifted over 80 boiled water advisories on First Nations reserves. Prime Minister Trudeau and Minister for Indigenous Services, Marc Miller remains committed to ensuring all boiled water advisories on First Nations are lifted within their second mandate.
