Nuclear Power Plant In Ukraine Causes The Energy Agency To Step In

Nuclear power plant in the hot spot of  Ukraine War is dangerous.

Thursday, September 1st, 2022, the International Atomic Energy Agency (I.A.E.A.) went on a 14-person trip to assess the situation at the Ukrainian nuclear power plant.

Currently, in Zaporizhian, Ukraine, Russians are taking control of the nuclear power plant that provides Ukraine with most of its energy. Even under Russia’s control, Ukrainians are forced to work at the power plant.

This situation is causing a lot of tension because of the possible catastrophes if the power plant comes under attack. On Thursday’s inspection, the U.N. Representatives said that the structural damage violates the safety rules. This is because there has been heavy fighting near the plant.

Sergei Shoigu, Minster of Defense in Russia, said that the damage is due to attacks from Ukraine itself on the plant. The I.A.E.A. Chief Rafael Grossi says that he is worried about the plant because it is unstable.

The inspectors were not allowed to enter the crisis center because there are said to be Russian troops located there. Neither Russia nor Ukraine seemed thrilled with the inspection and accused one another of being in the wrong.

The U.N.’s interception of the nuclear plant will hopefully be able to nullify any super harmful leakages or other disasters from happening.
