NIAGARA FALLS, ON — A new monument now stands firm at 5125 Victoria Ave, and it’s not just a bench — it’s a legacy.
On June 6, the Justice 4 Black Lives Bench was officially unveiled, marking four years since the historic 2020 march for Black lives in Niagara.
All Black. All bold. And permanently stamped in the heart of the city.
This installation isn’t for decoration — it’s a declaration. A testament to resistance, resilience, and the raw, unfiltered truth of Black existence in a world that still struggles to reckon with it.
At the center of this movement is Sherri Darlene, founder of Justice 4 Black Lives Niagara, whose relentless advocacy brought this vision to life — three years in the making. This bench wasn’t handed over. It was fought for. Every call, every council meeting, every email — was a brick in the foundation of this moment.
“We were here. We’re still here. And we ain’t going anywhere.”
From the protests that shut down streets in 2020 to this solid steel landmark, the message is clear: Black lives shaped this city, and we deserve to be seen.
