Dale (Ducky) Hawerchuk, NHL Great, Winnipeg Legend
Today, the Winnipeg Jets, the entirety of the NHL lost one of their greatest ambassador of the game. Hall of Famer, Dale Hawerchuk, lost his battle with cancer at the age of 57. Hawerchuk was an a passionate player who played the game of hockey the right way. He played with heart, determination and was dedicated to keeping the spirit of the game alive.
Both on the ice and off, Hawerchuk always put others first, be that his city, his team, or his fans. Never to pompous to sign his name, or smile for a photo. Even to his opponents, Hawerchuk carried himself with the upmost civility and sportsmanship.
On August 13th, Hawerchuk received his final round chemo where his son Eric seen in the photo ringing the Bell of Hope on his way out of the hospital. “We hope” this is the end of a long journey but he’s ready for anything.
