Washington Redskins to finally drop racist team name

A change gone come

On July 3rd, the Redskins organization announced the commencement of a thorough review of the team’s name. That review has begun in earnest. There has been a call for decades for the team to change its name as it is offensive to the Indigenous community.

In the past month America has seen the removal of dozens of confederate flags and monuments from public places as they are the symbol of hate and racism. It is only after corporate sponsors such as Nike and Pepsi threatened to pull their sponsor from the team, that prompted the often tone deaf Snyder to do the right thing.

Today, the organization announced they will be retiring the Redskins name and logo upon completion of this review. (public outcry)
