Russia Mobilize An Additional 300,000 Troops Amid Heavy Loses In Ukraine

Russia’s move is being seen as a desperate move by Putin to cling to power

A partial mobilization decree imposed by Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday subjected Russian citizens currently in reserve to conscription. Putin was to address the nation on Tuesday but was a no show.

The announcement comes as Ukrainian troops repelling the Russian regime and taking back significant territory lost in the early days of the illegal invasion. The rouse of Russia conducting a military exercise and still being spread on Russia’s 24-hour state propaganda news is no longer working.

Today, Putin’s announcement signifies that the dictator is losing the war on the ground and the airwaves. Putin is facing tremendous pressure from the Russian citizens and prominent business owners to end the war, and they have publically aired their dismay. One that will have them serving a lengthy prison sentence or worse.

Russia’s announcement to mobilize 300,000 troops comes as it plans to hold referendums for joining four of the Russian-occupied parts of Ukraine into the Federation. Kherson, Zaporizhzhia and the highly sought-after Luhansk People’s Republics (LPR) and Donetsk People’s Republics (DPR). The referendums are to take place this week, and the results will undoubtedly favour joining Russia.

“In ancient times, Kupyansk was a powerful Cossack settlement. Russia has left behind here the only thing it is capable of – destruction. But we will revive everything and restore the indomitable spirit of this city. Because Kupyansk is Ukraine. It was, is and will be so.” Said Ukrainian President President Zelinskyy

“Putin has shown utter disrespect to China, India, Mexico, Turkey, other Asian, African, Middle Eastern, Latin American nations which have called for diplomacy and an end to Russia’s war on Ukraine. He wants to throw more men into the flames of the war he has no chance of wining.” Said Ukraine Foreign Minister, Dmytro Kuleba

A similar land grab happened back in 2014 when Russia annexed the Crimea peninsula, creating the Crimean Republic and the city of Sevastopol under the authority of the Russian Federation. Afterwards, a referendum was held with the aim of legitimizing the annexation, resulting in 97% in favour of joining Russia.

The latest attempt by Russia’s President is seen desperate attempt to hold on to power. To the point that Putin has threatened to use nuclear weapons to end the war. Unfortunately, with unhinged dictators, it is hard to dismiss their words as empty threats. Seeing that Putin has already shelled the Ukrainian nuclear power plant, the threat of actually using nukes on the Ukrainian people has to be taken seriously.

As for the people of Ukraine, they have shown they are willing to die for their country, which is something many Russian soldiers are not willing to do by abandoning their military vehicles and ammunitions. And according to multiple sources out of Russia, men are making a mass exodus from the country out of fear of being conscripted into a war that should have never happened.

According to NPR, Russians are booking one-way economy ticket out of the country to Istanbul or Dubai, where ticket prices have reached a high of 9,200 euros ($9.119).
