Ontario Premier Doug Ford called for the dissolution of the legislature and the launch of an election campaign

Doug Ford will meet with Lieutenant Governor Elizabeth Dowdeswell today at 3 P.M. to officially start the election campaign.

Dowdeswell is likely to accept Ford’s proposal to dissolve the provincial parliament and sign a formal writ of election.

Election day is scheduled for June 2 from 9 A.M. to 9 P.M., but residents can start voting early by mail or at early voting locations to prevent heavy turnout on Election Day and increase the risk of COVID-19 infection.

The latest polls show that Doug Ford’s Progressive Conservatives are beginning to build a sizeable lead in voting intentions and are well placed to win the most seats. Steven Del Duca’s Liberals Party is in second place, recently ahead of Andrea Haworth’s New Democrats Party in the number of seats, which may form the official Opposition.
