I Had A Dream… Happy Birthday Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

On this day, January 15, 2020, the world celebrates the birth of the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. King was a true believer of non-violent peaceful protest to ensure the rights of not just African Americans are being respected, the rights of all men and women.

Dr. King was a champion of civil rights within the community and in 1955 led the Montgomery bus boycott in support of Rosa Parks. Throughout is lifetime, Dr. King would go on to lead many high profile non-violent protests before his assassination on April 4, 1968, in Memphis, Tennessee by James Earl Ray.

Happy Birthday Dr. King, today you would have been 91. We celebrate your contributions to the struggle of equality and the hope that all children will be able to play together one day in harmony. Today let us remember. Honourable Deputy Mayor For Winnipeg Markus Chambers

Dr. King’s most notable protest happened on August 28, 1963, in Washington D.C, when hundreds of thousands turned out to hear him deliver his famous “I Have a Dream” speech.
