How Switzerland Clinched Hosting Rights for UEFA Women’s EURO 2025

Switzerland outflanked France, Poland, and the Nordics(Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden)

Switzerland has clinched the hosting rights for the prestigious UEFA women’s EURO soccer tournament billed for 2025.

Switzerland outflanked other bidding countries in yesterday’s keenly contested voting process in Lisbon, Portugal.

A statement from UEFA revealed that the Swiss football association emerged as the preferred host with nine votes after three rounds of voting. In the first round, Nordics(Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden) had four votes, the same as Poland and Switzerland, while France managed a single vote.

Nordics, Poland, and Switzerland proceeded into the next stage, having garnered an equal number of votes. The second round saw voting Switzerland gaining six votes and Nordics 4, while Poland mopped up three endorsements.

The final voting was between Switzerland and the Nordics, and the Swiss association balloted nine votes while the Nordics had 4.

The UEFA Women’s EURO is held every four years. The last tournament was in 2022, and England won the trophy on home soil.
