European Union Extend Sanctions On 1206 Russian Individuals & 108 Entities

Sanctions have been in place since February of 2022 and extended to March 2023

The European Union (E.U) has expanded its support for Ukraine and sanctions against Putin’s Russia as the war in Ukraine rages on, and Ukrainians fight bravely for their country.

After the invasion of Ukraine by Russia on February 24th, 2022, the E.U. massively expanded sanctions against Russia. Those sanctions included political representatives, military personnel and oligarchs. The aim is to limit the movement of travel and financial transactions.

After a meeting on Wednesday, the E.U Council voted to extend the sanctions until March 15th, 2023. In an issued statement, the council said, “Sanctions will continue to apply to 1206 individuals and 108 entities, many of which are targeted in response to Russia’s ongoing unjustified and unprovoked military aggression against Ukraine.”

It is very likely the E.U will keep sanctions in place well beyond the March 2023 date set for review. Russia’s relentless assault on Ukraine does not indicate an end anytime soon. Even with the massive territorial gains made by Ukraine’s people backed by Western and British weapons, Putin’s appetite for war does not appear to slow.
