$64,000 in Meth and contraband seized at Maximum security prison

Another major drug bust at a Canadian penitentiary
On September 2, 2020, as a result of routine searches by correction officials, two packages were seized on the perimeter of the Maximum security unit at Collins Bay Institution.
The contraband seized included 5 cell phones, an e-cigarette and oil, as well as various quantities of marijuana, edible THC gummies, Crystal Meth, shatter, tobacco, banana leaves, and 3 individual substances believed to be methamphetamines, Hash and a methamphetamine / Cocaine / MDMA mix. The total estimated value of the this seizure is $64,000.
It is still undetermined how the illegal contraband would get inside the maximum security facility. Considering that inmates have no access to the exterior of the prison, it leaves many questions whether the dead drop was intended for a correctional facility employee.
The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is heightening measures to prevent contraband from entering its institutions in order to help ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone. CSC also works in partnership with the police to take action against those who attempt to introduce contraband into correctional institutions.
