Manitoba Vax To Win Lottery Winners Announced

Manitoba is one of several provinces that offered incentives to get vaccinated

Premier Brian Pallister and Manny Atwal, President and CEO of Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries announced the first winners of the provinces Vax to Win Lottery. This lottery offered Manitobans who got their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine on or before Aug. 2 a chance to win one of many cash prizes. The first round of the lottery offers three $100,000 prizes for individuals in the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, three $100,000 prizes for individuals in Southern Health–Santé-Sud, Prairie Mountain Health, Interlake-Eastern and Northern health regions, and ten $25,000 scholarships for youths 12 to 17 years old.

“The sooner all eligible Manitobans get fully vaccinated, the sooner we can all get our lives back,” said Pallister. “As a government, we have done everything we can to bolster vaccine availability and accessibility, and to give Manitobans the information and support they need to roll up their sleeve – not once, but twice – and get fully vaccinated. We are close to achieving all of our vaccination milestones. Now we just need that extra effort by every Manitoban not yet vaccinated to roll up their sleeve and push us across the finish line so we can safely reopen, fully.” 

Today, the names of the first set of winners were pulled by local lottery company Funding Change and the winners have been notified. The following individuals each won a prize of $100,000:

 • Kerry Maskiew, Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA);

 • Garth Deleske, WRHA;

 • Trent Fingler, WRHA;

 • Jacqueline Martel, Southern Health–Santé Sud health region;

 • John Lyons, Prairie Mountain Health region;

 • Dustin McDuffe, Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority; and

 • Bernell Lavallee, Northern Health Region.

A second draw is scheduled for those who have received their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine on or before September 6th. The second round of the lottery will the same as the first round; three $100,000 prizes for individuals in the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, three $100,000 prizes for individuals in Southern Health–Santé-Sud, Prairie Mountain Health, Interlake-Eastern and Northern health regions, and ten $25,000 scholarships for youths 12 to 17 years old.
