Wouldn’t it feel better, if, the American people, felt more confident in this President’s statements, and rhetoric? Since, our system of justice, provides every individual, with the right to be, considered, innocent, unless/ until, proven guilty, doesn’t Donald Trump, deserve, at least, these same basic rights? For, nearly all of President Trump’s tenure, as the most powerful individual, in the free world, we have witnessed, many questions, concerns, and investigations! Although, it seems, his core supporters, either, thoroughly believe him, and what, he represents, to them, polls indicate, the majority of Americans, believe, he is a liar, and/ or, worse! Trump’s loyalists, state, it’s a conspiracy, or a politically motivated, hoax, or attempt to overcome the results of the 2016 election, and proclaim, the evidence, brought forth, was hear – say, or second or third – hand, they appear, to be unwilling to discuss, his quality of character, vitriol, and actions, and, emphasize, what they consider, the process! With that in mind, this article will attempt to, briefly, consider, examine, review, and discuss, why so many believe he is lying, and what might be needed, to change those perceptions.
1. Claim: Lack of first – hand, fact witnesses: Supporters of the present occupant of the White House, often, defend him, by stating, there is a lack of first – hand witnesses. Although, even that, is not completely, accurate, because of the overheard conversations, and, the released, partial transcript of the Ukrainian telephone conversation, one of the primary reasons, there haven’t been more, is the President’s unwillingness, to conform to subpoenas, and requests for relevant documents, and restrictions, on personnel, to appear, before Congress. If there is nothing to hide, he would want these people, to testify, one would think!
2. Perfect call: If anyone, truly, believes, the renowned, phone call, was perfect, we probably should realize, logic won’t make this perception, go away! Using rhetoric, to constantly, proclaim, it was so, doesn’t make most people, believe it was!
3. Record of lying: Political fact – checkers, state, Mr. Trump, has, either lies, or made huge misstatements, over 15, 000 times, since he took office. The story about, The boy who cried wolf, makes it challenging, for many, to accept his version, of, most things, since he has lied, so often, in plain – sight!
4. What the Mueller Report, really said: Despite Attorney General Barr’s quick statement, about the Mueller Report, stating, there was nothing further to investigate, and, basically, he, and Trump, were telling us, before anyone, saw the redacted report, No collusion – no obstruction. In fact, it stated, there was no direct proof of collusion, but, much evidence, Russia attempted to influence the 2016 election, in Trump’s behalf, and, pointed to, having limited access to key witnesses, in a focused way! On the area of obstruction, Mueller reported, he could neither, prosecute, nor, exonerate, because, the Department of Justice’s guidelines, limit conduct, related to a sitting President, and, the only remedy, is the one, the Constitution mentions (impeachment).
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me again, shame on me! Most of us, seem to believe, an innocent man, would want to clear his name, by presenting evidence, which demonstrated, clearly, how he behaved! Does anyone believe, Donald Trump, has behaved, like we would expect, an innocent man, to act?
