Marrakech stood at the center of national pride this week as Morocco celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Green March—one of the most defining events in the modern history of the kingdom. On this momentous occasion, warm congratulations were extended to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God grant him victory and support, as citizens across the country commemorated National Unity Day in the Moroccan Sahara. The spirit of unity, loyalty, and cultural pride filled the atmosphere as communities gathered to honor the legacy of peaceful determination that continues to shape the nation’s collective identity.
In this patriotic context, the “Memory and Heritage” Neighborhood Youth Association and the Miss Marrakech Al Hamra 2025 Region for Culture and Heritage organized a distinguished celebration last Sunday in Marrakech. The event—rooted deeply in national sentiment—brought together art, heritage, and collective remembrance. Traditional songs, regional performances, and cultural displays highlighted the depth of Moroccan identity, echoing the richness of its history from the Sahara to the High Atlas. Attendees embraced the moment with emotion and gratitude, reaffirming their loyalty to the Moroccan Sahara and to His Majesty King Mohammed VI. Many emphasized that the anniversary continues to serve as an opportunity to strengthen citizenship, unity, and cohesion across the kingdom’s diverse communities.

The celebration also aligned with the shared mission of both organizing associations: safeguarding national heritage, promoting collective memory, and highlighting Marrakech’s enduring role as a cultural capital. This year’s festivity unfolded under the elegant slogan “Beauty and Heritage Meet,” setting the perfect stage for Miss Marrakech 2025: A Celebration of Beauty and Heritage, under the leadership of President Haya Wali Idrissi. What began years ago as a regional competition has grown into a respected cultural event, blending elegance with the preservation of Moroccan tradition.
At its core, the competition seeks to protect Moroccan cultural heritage while promoting values of beauty, culture, elegance, and civic responsibility among young women. It encourages participants to appreciate Morocco’s diverse heritage and reinforces the vital role of women in transmitting culture across generations. The competition is open to contestants from all areas of the Marrakech-Safi region, where they are evaluated not only on appearance, but on cultural knowledge, intelligence, and awareness of Moroccan traditions. Judging is overseen by a panel of experts in culture and heritage, ensuring the competition remains rooted in authenticity and national values.

During the celebration, a distinguished lineup of 2025 titleholders and leading contestants was introduced—each representing a unique facet of Moroccan identity and modern ambition.
Lamyae El Khalfi, crowned Miss Marrakech 2025, captured attention with her grace, confidence, and dedication to promoting heritage. Representing the Al Hamra region, she symbolizes the cultural richness and artistic legacy of Marrakech.
Nationally, Hassania Nahid, awarded Miss Top Model Morocco 2025, showcased Morocco’s rising influence in fashion and modeling, embodying elegance and contemporary vision.
The Miss Morocco competition also brought forward talented emerging contestants, including Fatimazahra Kadouri, the first contestant of Miss Maroc 2025, admired for her poise and cultural depth, and Hajar Taqi, the second contestant, recognized for her leadership qualities and strong sense of national pride.

In fashion, Ghizlane Benredouane, crowned Miss Fashion Model Morocco 2025, demonstrated the dynamic blend of heritage and modern style, further elevating Morocco’s fashion presence. Completing the lineup, Nacira Cherdoudi, the newly titled Miss Caftan Maroc 2025, paid tribute to the caftan—one of Morocco’s most iconic garments and a symbol of artistry preserved through generations.
President Haya Wali Idrissi highlighted the importance of the competition in his remarks, noting that it not only celebrates beauty but also elevates cultural heritage and empowers Moroccan women. He praised the exceptional organization, the outstanding competitors, and the shared commitment to showcasing Morocco’s identity with dignity and pride.

As the ceremony concluded and the 2025 winners were celebrated, the event left a lasting impression. It stood as a powerful reminder that Morocco’s heritage is alive, evolving, and embraced by its youth. The 50th anniversary of the Green March provided the perfect national backdrop, blending memory, unity, culture, and aspiration—affirming once again that Morocco’s future is as vibrant and enduring as its past.
