The 3rd Annual Toronto Pan Afrikan Film Festival (TPAFF) is back from August 14 to 17, 2025, bringing a fresh wave of culture, storytelling, and Black cinematic excellence to the city. This year’s theme, “RIDDIM,” focuses on the heartbeat of Black music—reggae, hip-hop, dancehall, soul, and Afrobeat—and how these genres influence and drive the stories of the global African diaspora.
The festival opens on August 14 with its signature Black Carpet Gala, a dazzling evening where attendees dress to impress and celebrate the voices of African and Caribbean filmmakers. From August 15 to 16, TPAFF offers free film screenings at the First Unitarian Centre in Little Jamaica, showcasing powerful narratives from around the world that explore the intersections of identity, culture, and rhythm.
On August 17, the festival concludes in style at Acqua Supper Club with a feature film screening, a striking African Fashion Week runway show, and the Diaspora Film & Media Networking Brunch. A surprise special guest is expected to cap off the festivities, further amplifying the energy of this cultural gathering.
More than a film festival, TPAFF is a movement—a celebration of resilience, resistance, and rhythm through the lens of Black filmmakers. By making all events accessible to the public, TPAFF is reclaiming space and ensuring that the stories of the Pan-Afrikan experience are seen, heard, and felt.
